Video: Is There an Alternative for Veneers?
Aesthetic bonding is done using a light cured, composite resin material. This material is not as strong as the all ceramic porcelain restorations such as veneers or crowns. However, small fixes can be achieved.
The composite resin material starts in a moldable form that is applied directly to the tooth and shaped. State-of-the-art ultraviolet lights are used to cure (harden) the material. Then, the tooth is shaped and polished to a desired aesthetic.

When teeth appear short or the gums dominate your smile, there are two reasons. One, the teeth have experienced an eruption pattern called Altered Passive Eruption. Two, the upper and lower jaws did not fully develop.
Altered Passive Eruption leads to a shortened tooth appearance and in many cases, a lot of gums showing in your smile. Aesthetic crown lengthening can correct this presentation. In some cases, veneers or aesthetic bonding may be needed to give you a tooth shape that fits your desired aesthetic.
Insufficient jaw development can lead to excess gums showing in your smile. In this case, there may be a need for jaw development appliances in addition to aesthetic crown lengthening.
